Google Reveals That Businesses Affected By an Algorithm Update May Be Revived By Another Update
Great news for businesses, especially the SMEs! They no longer need to fear Google’s upcoming Panda/Penguin updates. In case your online presence was hurt badly because of Google’s past algorithmic updates, such as Penguin/Panda updates, then the good news is that other algorithm updates can help enhance the search ranking of your site. So, if you are left scratching your head after the recent Google Penguin 2.1 update, chances are the next Google Penguin 4.0 update may resolve all your search ranking woes. This is what Google’s John Mueller said about the algorithmic ranking updates.
“luckily we have lots and lots of signals that we use for rankings. So it is not the case that your site is infinitely stuck there until the algorithm updates, there is always room for change.”
Sadly, this is not something new that we’re hearing from Google. Most often, businesses find that Google’s Panda or Penguin updates hurt them to the extreme. The effect is said to be nothing less than devastating.
Here’ what Google’s John Mueller posted on his Google+ page.
Question:
If a website was hit by Penguin 2.1 is it possible that it’s rankings could have remained affected all this time and that they could be restored by Penguin 4.0?
Solution:
Yes, I guess to some extent, if your site is affected by one algorithm and that algorithm has not updated that part of your rankings will probably remain the same. But luckily we have lots and lots of signals that we use for rankings. So it is not the case that your site is infinitely stuck there until the algorithm updates, there is always room for change. Even if this algorithm says this thing, lots of signals might say well actually it is a lot better than you think and then we’d rank that appropriately. So it is not the case that you are locked in until things change on our side.
